We also asked the commissioner about last week's conviction of a police officer for vehicle theft. In 2012 Constable Virgil Perez was charged for theft of a Toyota Hilux and 12 years later, a jury found him guilty last week.

So was he a victim of justice delayed Turing into justice denied, or was it justice served? That's what we asked the Commissioner:

Jules Vasquez
"What do you make of this; there are 2 perspectives, either you could say that it's an abuse of process justice delayed is justice denied, but at the same time you can say a jury of his peers found him guilty. What's your response?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner Of Police
"Certainly, it is a good result. We have long maintained that the result would have been what it is and moving forward, you know what the process are. We just need to go through it in ensuring that he's no longer a member of the department."

"For it to happen, from what our investigation reveal that he was a part of a ring of persons who were engage in the theft of Toyota vehicles and taking them over to Guatemala. So for us its a very good result and we are going to do what needs to be done to ensure that he is no longer a member of our department."

Perez was remanded until he is sentenced. The Commissioner says that during the 12 years he remained on interdiction with half pay.
