And Encalada's mother did come to see him. This afternoon she went to the court house to visit one son, even as she prepares for the other's funeral. Courtney Menzies has the story:
Yolanda Encalada is a mother who is dealing with the loss of two sons - a 25-year-old has died, and a 39-year-old who is going to jail for his murder.
And after he was remanded to prison, Miguel Encalada asked for one thing: to see his mother before he is put behind bars.
And his mother did show up this afternoon, still trying to cope with the pain of her losses, and dealing with the judgments of the wider public.
Yolanda Carlota Encalada - Mother of Miguelito
"Both of my sons were loving. Desiree and Miguel have a nice, loving relationship, I don't believe what the people are trying to plot on my son but I lose two, I'm losing two sons. We have to bury one and we are not rich, we don't have the money and finance to bury my son, my son just came to live in Ladyville for one year now, and he's back, he's going under the ground, it's so sad for his mom to face that."
"Everyone is telling a lot of lies, this morning I was coming down and people were telling me some nasty things on the bus and that is not true."
The story of what happened has been twisted and turned, and Encalada said that at first, she thought both her sons were dead.

"Oh I scream and..."
Court Reporter:
"What was your state?"
Yolanda Carlota Encalada - Mother of Miguelito
"I felt like I was getting crazy."
Court Reporter:
"Did you all understand that Miguelito was alive and the other one was dead?"
Yolanda Carlota Encalada - Mother of Miguelito
"Oh, I saw three of them on the floor so I thought three of them had died. When my daughter called me from Libertad she said three of them are gone."
"So it's so sad for people going around and saying bad rumors about my sons but I know my son, George Rochester, just come close to Miguel for like 8 days and he get murdered. And Desiree, I feel so sad for her, I give my sympathy to her mom because I heard she's not as well as me, I could fall down any moment with my pressure and my diabetes but the good Lord knows best."
Her son, George Rochester's funeral is on Friday.
