But if the cops are aware of that arrest, they certainly pretended like they weren't when ACP Hilberto Romero spoke on Kurtis Usher's murder during this morning's press brief.

Here's what he said when reporters asked him whether Usher had a record:

ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division

"Information is that Kurtis Usher arrived at his house along with his common law when shots were heard coming from a bushy area and as a result he was shot. Investigation into this matter continues."

"Detectives are presently doing interviews and going through the evidence that was found at the scene but that is all the information we have at this time."

Reporter:
"And Mr Usher, two expended shells were found believed to be from his firearm so is it believed that he returned fire?"

ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division
"We are not sure, he was at his house, and the shots were fired towards him, we are not sure if he fired any shots."

Courtney Menzies:
"Does he have a licensed firearm?"

ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division
"I will need to check on that."

Reporter:
"Can you say what kind of person Mr Usher was?"

ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division
"Again, we do not have much on him, he had not been dealt with in the past."

Reporter:
"So he does not have a police record?"

ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division
"No, no."

Reporter:
"Police aren't looking into if this was drug related at this time?"

ACP Hilberto Romero, OC, Eastern Division
"Yes we are looking at that."
