Tonight, a family in Guinea Grass is mourning their four-year-old daughter and granddaughter, Lindsie Jimenez after she drowned at the river during a routine family outing. It happened in the Rio Hondo at the Blue Creek dam on Sunday afternoon.

It's a death that's left her grandmother devastated and fixated on what could have been. Here's what she told CTV3 today when she spoke off-camera to their reporter.

Voice of: Grandmother
"Yes we always, always go to spend the afternoon, we always go and refresh ourselves especially in hot weather the little girls said let's go Dad. We couldn't think we would have come back without my baby. It's really hard."

"She was for us, everything it was too much love that we had for her. She was my little granddaughter. It seemed that she was the most loved because she is the first daughter of my son, the first she was four years old in October she would have been 5."

"She was going to graduate from pre-school and her mom was already making plans for her graduation but God didn't want it that way instead he took her very quickly. No one thought she would have gone."

Reports from the scene suggest that the child may not have had optimal supervision while swimming in the river.
