Tonight, a senior citizen is dead and a pregnant woman is in the hospital fighting for her life and that of her child after they were both hit by a Van while waiting for a bus.
It happened today at about 12:50 p.m. leaving Dangriga Town when Ezekiel Cachon, a 59-year-old electrician allegedly lost control of his vehicle and hit 86-year-old Michael Scott and 30-year-old Glenda Banegas, causing serious injuries to both persons. Scott succumbed to his injuries on the scene while Banegas was ferried to the Southern Regional Hospital where she is receiving medical treatment.
This is the second vehicular accident to involve a pregnant woman in the last two weeks.
A Notice of Intended Prosecution was issued to Ezekiel Cacho, who is now detained pending further investigation. The police are investigating.
