A policeman has been accused of stealing a motorcycle from his own police compound.

Guinea Grass Police Constable, Ryan Bainton appeared in court today accused of stealing a LIFAN motorcycle from the Hattieville Police station compound. The alleged theft was caught on surveillance camera.

In court today, Bainton pleaded not guilty to the charge of theft and received bail of $1,000 dollars with an adjournment for September 25th.

His superior officer claims that on June 16th, the Motorcycle with no Vin # and no serial number was brought into the station by another police officer after checking into a minor road traffic accident. The cycle was impounded at the Station because it had no proper document of ownership.

It was labeled as found property, but it seems to have found an owner because on August 4th it was found to have disappeared. The officer commanding reviewed the Police Station surveillance cameras and saw constable Bainton cut off the lights under the building and then walk downstairs. He was seen shortly after pushing the cycle out of the compound through the back gate.
