Yesterday, we told you about the fake COVID WhatsApp message warning about a new variant, COVID-Omicron XBB. The Ministry of Health quickly issued a press release stating that the message was bogus and did not originate with them.

And today, the Minister, Kevin Bernard, advised Belizeans to ensure they get their information from MOH sources only.

Kevin Bernard, Minister of Health

"We just took out a release yesterday on that matter. Again, people always try to spin and take things out of context. We have to ensure that we listen to the right advisory. Any advisory health related comes from the Ministry of Health, no one else and so we are the spokesperson. Once it comes out from any fake WhatsApp messages being shared, those are not real if it does not come on the letterhead or on the website or on the social media page of the Ministry of Health."

"So I want to make also to plea to people that let us ensure that we are listening to the right advisory. I was even sent that too and I immediately responded to the person that's fake news, we don't have those type of issues in Belize. As I said covid is still around, but its not as what it says on that fake message. So we just have to make sure that people continue listen to the right information coming out of the Ministry of Health and Wellness."
