And the ComPol told us more about the police's efforts to locate Osvaldo's body. He said at this time the mutilation appears to have been caused by a crocodile, and that the cops do not suspect foul play. However, they are checking for surveillance cameras in the area. Here's what he told us today.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

"I know that this morning, police in Orange Walk were conducting searches in the same era where they had said the young man had disappeared. And the lifeless body was found floating in the river."

"I believe they were saying that certain parts of the limbs were missing. It appeared that he had been eaten by crocodile or some animal. The body was retrieved from the water and taken to the medical school on Boom Road where a post mortem is going to be conducted."

"We still don't suspect foul play. We'll have to wait until after the post mortem is completed and then we'll be able to have definitive cause of death moving forward from there. We are grateful to BSI who assisted us with boats and drones. If it weren't for their assistance, I don't think we would have been where we are right now."

Reporter
"Can you confirm if anyone has been detained in connection with this in terms of more recent?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Like I said, we don't suspect foul play at this time so we don't have anybody detained now."

Reporter
"Are you able to clarify if at no point the wife was detained along with the brother-in-law?"

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"I don't think they were detained. They were simply at the police station as would normally be the case to answer questions and to give statements. At the end of the day, they were the last to have seen him alive. In their statement, what they told the police that they were behind the young man trying to convince him to get back into the vehicle when he disappeared into the area."

"Like I said, it would normally be the case they were taken to the police station so that the police could have gotten a proper account from them in terms of what transpired leading up to the young man disappearance."
