Almost two weeks ago, we brought you the story of 70-year-old Levi Reimer. He is a Spanish Lookout resident who was injured on the job six years ago, while he worked at Koop Sheet Metal. After a lengthy court battle, he was awarded over $116,000. After a deduction of more $57,000 for a loan that the company had given to Reimer to pay for his medical bills, Koop Sheet Metal paid out the balance of $58,691.

That was over a year ago. And it wasn't until today that Reimer finally got his money. Well, a portion of it, since the law firm that collected the payment back in April, M.H. Chebat & Co., made sure to deduct a whopping 30,000 dollars in fees.

So in the end, Reimer only collected $28,632. It's not a lot for an elderly man living alone who is left unable to work after his accident.

According to his attorney, while he's glad he got something, he's left disheartened that the money he received is about $88,000 less than what the court ordered. Another attorney, Steve Perrera, came in to assist with the case and he's the one who secured the disbursement.

It's an exhausting battle for an elderly man, and we will keep following this story for any new developments.
