Today in court it was Chester Williams versus his brother, Arthur Williams, who is also the driver for the Ombudsman.
Based on a compliant by the commissioner himself, Arthur Williams was charged with two counts of using a computer system to disseminate false statements with the intent to cause another person to be subject to public ridicule or embarrassment, and one count of use of a computer system to intimidate a person. Both of these fall under the cyber crime act. He is accused of making several Facebook posts on January 7th about the ComPol.
Williams, who was unrepresented in court, pleaded not guilty and was offered bail in the sum of $10,000 plus one surety of the same amount, which he met. He said he could not speak to the media outside as a condition of his bail. His next court date is set for March 27th. He says he intends to get an attorney to represent him when the case goes to trial.
