At the top of this newscast you heard the ComPol explaining the circumstances that led to the death of Wilbert Banks. It's another murder that has occurred while a state of emergency is in effect, however, this one isn't gang-related nor is it in the areas under the SOE.
But the murder of Clay Monsanto was due to the gangs in the area, and on today's Monday Morning Beef, Jules Vasquez took a dig at the SOE.
Well, it rubbed the commissioner the wrong way, WAY WRONG - and he said that these types of murders cannot be prevented by an SOE, unless there is one that allows the detention of persons having affairs. Here's how he put it.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police
"Contrary to what Jules Vasquez believe, as he spoke this morning on his Beef, that the SOE is ineffective, because murders are still happening. I don't know if Jules wants us to get a list of all the men who are dating somebody woman, and do an SOE on them."
"I hope if that is done, he's not captured in it too. But certainly, the type of murders that the SOE is geared to prevent, it is working for that reason. The murders we're seeing now, those act of jealousies and those domestic types of murders are extremely difficult to prevent because we don't know when a man is going to decide to go and kill. The current boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend. It's difficult."
