Wenyuan Zhen is the owner of Island City Supermarket on San Pedro. It's a big enterprise that does wholesale and retail. But today he was at the Belize City Magistrate's Court for obtaining property by deception. And it's not just any property - Caribbean International Brewery accuses him of not paying for at least 150 thousand dollars worth of beer products - specifically Blue Pirate Beer.
But, due to the blackout - he couldn't. Appear before a magistrate today - so tonight he is in police custody awaiting arraignment tomorrow.
We stress there are two sides to the story and Zhen accuses Caribbean International Brewery of defrauding him of 108,000 thousand dollars for which a civil suit has been filed.
