And ever since the attack on Grant and Underwood early on Sunday morning - there has been an escalation in friction between four city gangs.
It almost took a woman's life this morning on Estelle Street in the Complex Area of Lake Independence.
At around 10:00 this morning, 25 year old Andrea Avaloy, was driving a car linked to one of the area gangs. She had just left the Magistrate's court when she jumped out of her car to pick up something at the neighborhood store. Whilst waiting at the shop, two men on motorcycle, drove up beside her vehicle's drivers side front door, and one fo them pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the door, shattering the window. No one was inside the vehicle but a message was clearly sent.
Police continue enhanced patrols in this and other areas to try and contain retaliation as hostilities could continue to escalate.
