The case of the triple murder of 44 year old Alarice Andrews, 39 year old Vidal Yuman and 19 year old Maria Lucas saw a major development today after the remaining defendant chose to remain silent, going against his attorney's wishes. 25 year old Kyle Zetina did not take the stand to maintain his innocence, which his attorney says he advised against.
The prosecution's case now hinges on a caution statement given by Zetina in which he admitted to shooting the three victims. And while there were no eyewitnesses, there were three witnesses who were initially deemed hostile during the trial. But the crown was able to prove their credibility and a trial within a trial allowed statements from the witnesses to be admitted into evidence.
Zetina's attorney believes that the admission of these statements drove the defendant to remain silent.
The next court date is scheduled for January 6th, 2025.
