A Belize City family woke up on Saturday to the terror of finding an intruder in their home. But he wasn't there to rob them - he was trying to sexually assault their 11 year old grand-daughter.
Around 4:00 am on Saturday, a grandmother awoke to find a 27 year old man in her room. He pushed her husband knocking him unconscious, and then punched the grandmother - also knocking her unconscious. When a family member looked inside to see what was the ruckus - he saw his 11 year old niece naked and the intruder with his pants down. The child ran to her uncle for rescue and police arrested the intruder. Police told us today they were getting ready to bring charges:

"Police are preparing to proffer charges against an unemployed Belizean in connection with a burglary that occurred at approximately 4:00 a m on Saturday, 28th June 2025."
"This male person is alleged to have entered a residence located on the south side of Belize City, with the apparent intention to rape a 11 year old female minor therein. One of the occupants stated that she was awakened by a commotion and upon inquiring, she saw a male person in her residence who proceeded to assault her and her husband, rendering them both unconscious."
"A male relative who resides at the lower flat of that residence was too alerted by the commotion and intervened, causing the male person to run off."
"And the suspect is one that is known to police for incidents of this nature. As a matter of fact, as recently as last year, he was convicted in the Magistrate court number one by prosecutor Sergeant Smith and was sentenced to 11 months in prison. I have been advised that he was released in May of this year. So the person in detention is expected to be charged later today."
31 YEAR OLD Leon Lamb appeared in court today on charges of burglary with intent to rape. He is already on trial for rape before the High Court and as you just heard has been convicted before for sexual assault of a minor. Lamb was arraigned and read four criminal offenses, one count of burglary with intent to rape, two counts of wounding and one count of harm. Lamb was remanded into custody until tomorrow when his bail will. Be considered.
