Tonight, 50 year old tour guide Sidney Louis Peyrefitte is spending his first night in jail after he was arraigned today for the murder of 47 year old Kenneth "Big Tom" Flowers. Peyrefitte arrived at court this afternoon with a dedicated police escort - most likely due to the fact that "Big Tom" was a former gang leader.
Things took an unexpected turn in court when he asked the magistrate if he could speak. Peyrefitte then asked if there is any special area of the prison he could go to because of the many threats on his life and his family since the killing. The magistrate then told him that his concerns would be forwarded to the prison, and in regards to his family they would have to seek police assistance. Due to the nature of the offense no plea was taken and he was remanded him to prison until December 11the.
This is not Peyrefitte's first criminal offense. in January of 2008 he was charged with the offense of discharging a firearm in public. He had pleaded not guilty to the charge but the matter was later struck out 6 months after.
In this case, he and Flowers were allegedly battling for the affections of a female friend - and he allegedly shot Flowers at the corner of Mopan Street and Mahogany Street. Police recovered twelve 9 millimeter casings and one projectile from the scene. 5 apparent bullet holes were seen on the rear of the vehicle. Flowers was shot fatally to the center of his chest.
Shortly after the murder, Police intercepted Peyrefitte in an SUV where he handed over his licensed Beretta pistol along with 2 magazines and 22 brass hollow point live rounds.
Peyrefitte allegedly admitted to police that he fired shots towards Flowers' vehicle.
