A woman has been denied bail again at the high court after a stabbing in April at Digi Park in Belize City. 26 year old Erynne Bellezaire was first charged with dangerous harm and use of deadly means of harm after allegedly stabbing Chelsey Lewis multiple times during a fight at Digi Park. Those charges were later upgraded to attempted murder on September 25, leading to her first denial of bail in the Magistrate's Court.

Bellezaire, a Customer Care Agent at Ready Call, appeared before Justice Nigel Pilgrim at the High Court this afternoon, hopeful that she would be granted her freedom. But by 12:35 p.m., that hope was shattered when the judge denied her bail. As the decision was announced, Bellezaire appeared visibly shocked, her face registering disbelief in the courtroom.

The DPP's office strongly objected to bail, while her attorney, Jaime Burns argued that the evidence against her was weak. However, Justice Pilgrim disagreed, stating that the charge of attempted murder is extremely serious.

Bellezaire, who is the mother of a young daughter, will remain on remand at the Belize Central Prison as her case proceeds. She is expected to return to the Belize City Magistrate's Court for further proceedings at a date to be confirmed.
