Domestic violence, we feature it regularly enough on the news - and in 99% of the cases, it's the woman in the relationship making a complaint against an abusive man - whether it be a husband, common law, or boyfriend.

But, today, an aggrieved man came to our studio to allege that he's the victim, and that his common law wife had beaten him and tanked out his locks. He came with his two children - whom he claims she left him to take care of.

He said he came to us because he claims police refuse to take his complaint:

Jason Phillips, Complainant
"I believe that the the authority gave women more rights than men because man go through abuse too, physical and spiritual and mentally. Right? I was living with a common law young lady and her name is Gayna. She went by my job site, right? Beat up me on my job site. Pap out 5 of my locks, then broke up my phone and throw back a hand. I threw back a hand because yes, a man isn't supposed to knock a woman."

"Now this woman want to paint me bad in the streets. She abandoned her kids. My daughter was so sick. So sick from Saturday and I took my daughter to the hospital."

"Now this woman got a tendency to go in the street and wants my daughter to wear short clothes, my kids into church. My son pray good. My daughter pray good. Right? My son go to a good school. My daughter go to a good school."

"My daughter don't want to have nothing to do with her mother. She went to my house and took a lot of my things out of my house."

"I went to the police station. I make a report to the police station. The 17th of December and I got no result. I get my Doctor paper and I went to the police station and I got no result. Now, you want to take me to family court and all kind of thing, and you don't care for your own kids that you push out."

"If you cannot love your kids, that you spend nine months with, which man you could love out there? Which man, who you could love out there if you don't love your kids? All gentlemen who are going through a situation, do not be afraid to speak out."

"Physical, verbally, spiritual abuse. No be afraid to speak out. Please, do not be afraid to speak out. Right? We need good men who will raise their kids, man that stands up for their family."

We will be following up on the story.
