And now, in other news, a Belizean teacher from San Pedro has been sentenced to prison after being convicted on two of three counts of sexual assault involving students.
Forty seven year old Alex Jason Noralez, a resident of Barracuda Street in the Boca Del Rio area of San Pedro Town, was today sentenced to 18 months in jail after being found guilty of sexually assaulting two second form students in January 2024.
Noralez was charged with three counts of sexual assault involving three students. Last Wednesday, January 21, 2026, a magistrate found him guilty on two counts related to the second form students but acquitted him on a third count involving a first form student. During the trial, Noralez, being represented by Ronnell Gonzalez maintained his innocence. While admitting that he hugged the students, he told the court that the embraces were innocent and non sexual. All 3 students testified that Teacher Noralez allegedly groped them.The magistrate ordered that the two 18 month sentences run concurrently, meaning Noralez will serve 18 months imprisonment in total.
