Butane Tank Explosion Capsizes Fishing Boat Near Swing Bridge

There was a scare in downtown Belize City today when a loud explosion was heard around 1:45 pm.

It happened right near the Swing Bridge, and it turned out to be a butane tank aboard one of the fishing boats that anchor near the Swing Bridge. The vessel sustained major damage and capsized. Reports indicate that the blast came from the vessel's galley while it was docked. It is owned by fisherman Taulfo Rivero.

This comes after the fishermen's vessels were blessed by Father Scott Giuliani this morning to commemorate Caribbean Fisherfolk Day.
