Given the number of crimes and police operations being conducted in the vicinity of Bella Vista, we asked ASP Smith about their ongoing policing efforts in the village. She explained that drug trafficking is what made it a hotspot for them and an area of interest.
ASP Stacy Smith, Police Staff Officer
"Since last year, Bella Vista has become an area of interest. We know there are several incidents and, as I indicated then, they were suggested to be fueled by the sale of drugs. Strategic changes, administrative changes were deployed, and though what is often reported is solely when persons are arrested, I can also confirm that even on that day, a number of major seizures of found property occurred. But I don't normally report on found property, so the operations in that area continue."
"As we say-as we continue to say-the sale of drugs certainly causes a rift in society on different levels, and as a department, we are cognizant of that. We continue to deploy all the tools that we have, be it technology, be it intelligence-led, or good old-fashioned policing to interdict these traffickers and to bring a level of peace to these beautiful villages."
