Pawn Shop Owner Shot During Attempted Robbery on Handyside Street

At 11:00 this morning, an attempted robbery was reported at Handy Money Loans pawn shop on Handyside Street. Food vendors in the vicinity told 7News that they all heard a single shot, and shortly after, a man was seen bleeding from his foot outside of the store. Police and the Scenes of Crime Unit responded to the area a few minutes later. The injured person, later identified as Miguel Guerra, the owner of the business, was rushed to a hospital. Eyewitnesses say the assailant escaped on a bicycle. No stolen goods or cash have been confirmed as yet.
