It's kind of hard to believe that it has already been two years since the Old Belize City Prison on Gaol Lane was transformed into the Museum of Belize. Two years later the walls of the museum have been home to numerous exhibits ranging from insects and spiders to precious Maya relics.

The main contributors behind those exhibits has been self styled archivist, collector and historian Meg Craig. So today on the Museum's anniversary it seemed only fitting that this Grand Lady receive some permanent recognition for her contribution. She was honored with renaming the main gallery - The Craig Gallery.

Meg's son Lieutenant Colonel Peter Craig gave us the family's reaction to the honor.

Lt. Col. Peter Craig,
"My family is grateful and thankful for the honor. My mother has dedicated her life not just to art but also to history so we are really honored to have recognized in this way."

The first exhibition at the newly renamed Craig Gallery will feature the original artwork for stamps of Belize.
