If you are an avid MTV viewer you'd probably know of the popular show called "Pimp My Ride" where unsuspecting persons are granted the privilege of having their vehicle to incredible details ranging from extreme music boxes right down to fish tanks in the trunk. Well while Belize has never seen such a television show, one raffle organizer says that she has the next best thing. Wave radio personality, Ruth Esquivel says she's brought the same concept to Belize. She calls it "Blaze Up Your Ride" and in classic MTV fashion she will hold a raffle for persons to have the opportunity to have their vehicle detailed to perfection right here in Belize.
Ruth Esquivel – Raffle organizer
This is Belize's version of ‘Pimp my ride' and it's ‘Blaze up your ride' and what it is it's a raffle and as I said it is for a good cause. It's to help NOPCAN and HELPAGE. The winner of this raffle we will give them a rental car and take their car and when we give them back they won't even recognize it. Body works, paint job, interior re-upholstery, new tires, engine works, soundsystem, AC, everything the full works. And it's all legit names that have been in the business that people know and trust."
"People are excited, they ‘ve been waiting for something like this. They love their car and gets them everywhere they need to go but they look at it and think: if only it didn't have this dent, or if only the engine didn't make this noise or something like that. So finally it's here in Belize and everybody can get out there, help a good cause and also maybe help their car. Everybody is hoping to win."
"It's for a good cause and you know everybody has to have that luck. You have to believe that you have that luck and so once you have that belief in you, you sit there and wait for the drawing date, it's October 31st which is Halloween it's an easy date to remember. You'd sit and wait and say: alright today is my day, my car is going to get blazed up. You are going to get your car back with a full tank of gas so that you can blaze around town in your blazed up ride."
Tickets for the raffle are for 5 dollars and are available at gas stations countrywide.
