She's twice been featured as eye candy in the Belikin calendar, but don't mistake Elvie Guerrero for just a 'Miss March.' She's proving herself to be more than just a pin-up girl, she's staking her claim as a self-styled artist. Elvie had her first art opening two weeks ago in San Pedro and our colleague at the San Pedro Sun Ron Sniffin was there.

Elvie Guerrero, Artist
"You have happy days and you have sad days so it really depends on how I feel at the moment. I find myself doing more detail when I'm not very relaxed so maybe that's my way of escaping like a bad moment so I just get into my painting and that's when I do a lot of detail. And when I am relaxed, I just kind of make it more free."

Kainie Manuel, San Pedro Sun
"I understand you do a lot of commissioned paintings. What kind of paintings are those?"

Elvie Guerrero,
"Mostly what I've done is I work along with either the interior decorator or the architect of the home and I'll go in and look at a specific wall and usually the client has an idea to start with and then we go from there. What I do is I try to bring out the colors of the room so when you walk in there, the painting is perfect for the room."

After opening at Ramon's Village, the exhibit has been moved to the Caliente Restaurant in downtown San Pedro.
