The second annual Lord Rhaburn Jazz Festival will be held this weekend at the Bliss Center. Colville Young, Jenny Lovell, and the Pantempters Steel Band are all on the line-up alongside ballroom dancers. But the headliner will be what Lord Rhaburn calls "The Belize Big Band," a sonic buffet of some of the true giants of Belize's musical history. Members of that outfit include Pablo Clarke, Norman Ysaguierre, and Codrington Pascasio. They all flew in for the show and this afternoon they gave us a preview.

Pablo Clarke, Performer
"We are sharing something with the people. We are giving them music, which is a part of life. You can get relaxation from any music but seeing it live means a great deal. I would give something close to the soul, close to the heart. You will enjoy and you won't fall asleep."

Norman Ysaguierre, Performer
"The first show was good but we are trying to make it better. Get a little more jazzy. And it is a jazz show but we will have all type of music. But we really want to put more jazz in it to show that we Belizeans can do that sort of thing too."

Codrington Pascasio, Performer
"I play jazz and that is what I am going to do. It is going to be jazz all the way live. I was invited and it is very important to me because I was born here and I think it is a great thing for me to come and present my talent because I have a lot of talent. It is a great thing to get me back here and I am going to do my best."

Lord Rhaburn,
"This year I guarantee it will better than last year."

The players will be at the Bellevue tonight. Showtime tomorrow night is 9. Tickets are $60 for reserved seating and $30 for general admission.
