If you can sing, dance, or act, the Institute of Creative Arts is looking for you. As part of the September celebrations, ICA will be holding a Children's Talent Parade, a Youth Talent Parade, and the Voice of Belize competition in September. ICA's Programme Director Leroy Green told us why they want you to contribute your special talent.
Leroy Green - Programme Director - ICA
"On the 5th of the September one of the major things is our Children's Talent Parade which up until last year we held at the Memorial Park. People on the southside it was too far so this year we are moving it to the Palm Court at the Bliss. We are catering for a 100 primary school age children, once they can sing, act, recite, or do some kind of talent we are asking them to come and register. Each child will get refreshments and school supplies as tokens of appreciation.
Then on the 8th of September we are teaming up with the Association for Belizean Artists First and we are holding the first ever Youth Talent Parade. To be eligible for that you got to be between 13 to 21 and again any sort of performing talent we are looking for that, whether it be playing an instrument, standup comedy, rap/hip-hop whatever.
On the 12th of September we are asking people to come in and register for the Voice of Belize Competition. That is something that we brought back last year. The reigning champion is Miss Shelmadine Peters. That is people from teenage years to seenagers, there is no limit on that. We are asking them to prepare a patriotic song, and a song of their choice. They will judged, and the first three winners in that particular competition will receive a plaque along with cash prizes."
Those interested in the Youth Talent Parade can pick up application forms at the Bliss. Auditions will be held in late August. The Voice of Belize auditions will be on September 12th.
