On Wednesday the King's Park Committee held the first ever Miss King Park's pageant. More than a beauty contest, the show was held to help out some of the less fortunate children in the community. The money raised on Wednesday was turned around and used to buy toys for seventy five children. The toys were handed out during a luncheon this afternoon. Odessa Bailey says that even though they live in King's Park, don't let the grand title fool you, the kids have hard times too.
Odessa Bailey, Organizer
"We had the first ever Miss King's Park Pageant and the money we made Wednesday from the show, we used to have a toy drive for the children in the neighborhood and Christmas dinner. People like to say that King's Park people have money but you have a lot of unfortunate children in the neighborhoods who need toys and stuff for school so that is why we had the pageant to raise the money and have this dinner."
15-year-old Adriana Garnett won the pageant.
