Dozens of Belizean artists took advantage of a three day seminar this week.

Sponsored by NICH, the event is designed to harness the collective creative energies of those working in music, dance, visual arts, film and media, writers, promoters, and other stakeholders from the industry.

The seminar provided instruction and guidance on how artists can effectively organize into relevant associations that can lobby for pro-arts funding and legislation:….

Mryna Manzanares, Artist and Educator
"I think the seminar is timely and for me it is very timely because its dealing not only with the artist but our culture in perspective and how we can portray our culture in a very positive way and be able to market those things that we have for income generation as well as building up our self as individuals so I think it is timely and as I heard about the

seminar I had to make sure that I was there, not only representing in terms of the cultures but also in terms of the artist in me. We need to be able to market what we have and you recognize that one of the avenues that are there so that we can present our self or build up our self and learn how to manage our self more effectively from a business perspective and not just only from the craft that I love."

One of the most pressing issues discussed at the seminar was Copyright and Right's management in Belize. The 3 day seminar held at the Cahal Pech Resort in San Ignacio, ended today.
