And while the Mayan Exhibit hopes to attract a lot of visitors in Belize, a Garifuna food truck is garnering a lot of attention in Los Angeles.
Belizean-American Winston Miranda is waking up American tastebuds to authentic Garifuna cuisine with his food truck Saraba - which literally means wake up.
Miranda has been selling food in the US for eight years, but he says he started off as a boy growing up in Belize and learning to cook from his great-grandmother. Now his food truck attracts people who are interested in learning more about the Garifuna culture - and Belize on a whole.
We spoke with Miranda via Zoom to hear more about his journey to owning the only authentic Garifuna food truck in LA.
Miranda has been featured in newspapers as well as on episodes for Buzzfeed and Munchies Vice.
