It's T-Minus 2 weeks until the Miss Universe pageant in Hollywood, Florida, and Miss Universe Belize, Iris Salguero is already raring to go. She departs SAN PEDRO tomorrow to make final preparations and then by Thursday, she's off heading out to take her turn on that international stage.
And this evening in San Pedro there was a motorcade, a loving send-off from her town's people designed to fill the aspirant queen with pride and the feeling of unwavering support.
But we had to keep her honest and so as some final prep for that live question round we quizzed her on global vaccine equity as well as Belize's divided opinion on her national costume.
We also asked the beauty queen about the final touches to her presentation and final appeals for funding.
And if you'd like to support Iris on her road to Miss Universe, you can find her banking details on Instagram at iris Salguero underscore.
The Miss Universe pageant will air for a global audience on Sunday, May 16th.
