And while Okeke displays his busts, the Catholic Diocese showed off their two newest members. There were two ordinations this week, one of Deacon Mateo Salam and of a new priest, son of the soil, Marcos Rodriguez. Today, we visited Rodriguez's ordination and learnt more of what this means for the Diocese.
Father Amelio Chi, Priest
"Holy priesthood means that they're following what Jesus did on Holy Thursday, he instituted not only the Eucharist but the priesthood which means that the person is called, chosen, named, ordained priest to act in the person of Jesus Christ."
"It is important because it is part of what Jesus gave us for salvation, for the church, and also to celebrate the sacraments in the church and also to help in the holy life of the people."
"The seminarians or the candidates have to go to the seminaries, they have to finish at least 4 years philosophy and 4 years theology which is a minimum of 8 years and depending when they enter, that's how it will happen."

"The priest being ordained is Deacon Marcos Rodriguez, he's from Valley of Peace in the Cayo district of our Lady of Co Cathedral Parish."
Deacon Salam's ordination was yesterday in Dangriga.
