The Loreto Pelayo Trio has something new in store for jazz lovers. They will be performing live on Thursday night at the Bliss Center, accompanied by 2 special guests: a guitarist and a vocalist from New York City.
The band leader and his guests spoke more about the performance and the synergy. They are calling it a Night of Ballads and Blues.
Loreto Pelayo, Band Leader, Loreto Pelayo Quartet

"And so this time we are are calling it a night of Ballads and Blues I hope that people, the lovers, the unloved, those seeking love can come out to this concert and just experience love, I always say it, it's like we are bringing a piece of New York to Belize you know at a very affordable price and so I just encourage everyone to come out and check out the show."
"Most of the set list is vocal so these are a lot of standards that people might recognize either just being in the popular sphere I know people know some of these standards from more modern movies, some people know stuff like, funny enough people know fly me to the moon from I think like squid games, from some Bayonetta games these songs have just been apart of the public consciousness for decades and I think this time especially with the words that people will recognize many of these tunes even if they don't I think a lot of these standards have some of my favorite lyrics and you listen to them and these are lyrics that have these feelings that people have felt across generations even though they are very old tunes in a sense they are timeless especially during this time of love around valentines day people might discover songs that really touch them."
Katie Martucci, Singer, Musician

"I think that is one of the reasons I love jazz is because you have this cannon of songs, standards that have been around for decades if not close to 100 years so it is really, I feel so grateful to know the songs in that cannon that I know and get to come somewhere like Belize that I have never been before and we have that to play together so in fact very old songs but new to this group of people playing them together which is an exciting new combination."
Josh Dunn, Guitarist, Musician
"It is going to be so much fun because we will be playing a lot of beautiful songs from the Great American Songbook, a lot of jazz that people know and love and it is going to be themed around valentines day and music for lovers but it is also going to be us, Katie and I getting to know and getting to play with this Belizean quartet trio rather and getting to know each other and explore things on stage a lot of different sounds a lot of different tunes and improvisation and I think that it is going to be really great."

The show starts at 7:00 on Thursday night and tickets are $50 dollars.
