This afternoon St. Johns College and the National Institute of Culture and History unveiled the third edition of 'Readings in Belizean History.' The third edition came as an update of the last edition which was done back in 1987. President of NICH Yasser Musa today told us that the update brings the book to current occurrences in Belize's history.
Yasser Musa, NICH President
“Through our Institute of Social and Cultural Research (ISCR) with Lita Krohn and Froylan Salam at the House of Culture, they were the co-editors and they took on the responsibility of putting together the new edition and now today we are happy to present that edition to the public. There is far more information. There is an added new feature with the CD-ROM which allows for much more articles and documents and photographs and bibliographies and selected readings to be placed that couldn’t fit on the actual book. This book I think covers the spectrum as it is today as having some of the known historians including Dr. Joseph Iyo, Dr. Angel Cal, Nigel Boland, Assad Shoman, Nancy Gonzalez, and Francis Humphreys. And all these people are various authorities so to speak in their different fields of history; they bring together different viewpoints.”
The book is used by St. John's Junior College as a text for studies in Belizean History.
