The school formerly known as Lynam now called ANRI, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Institute got a new school building today. The 8 classroom building which will double as a hurricane shelter was opened this morning by Prime Minister Hon. Said Musa. Musa said the building is part of government's disaster preparedness project. More importantly, though for the 113 students and teachers at ANRI, Musa said it is an indication of government's commitment to keeping agriculture in the classroom.
Hon. Said Musa,
“This is a very important and historic occasion for us to signal the importance we want to continue to give to agriculture. We can’t expect
agriculture to grow or to flourish unless our people from a very young age are trained with that proper orientation. And of course we can’t expect to continue agriculture in the same old way as we did 10 or 20 years ago whether it be in the agronomic practices that we engage in our students have to engage in planting and so on. All this is I am sure is part of the curriculum here of ANRI. A very important institution in the whole scheme of the educational development of Belize.”
ANRI is located on Canada Hill on the Hummingbird Highway. The building cost $1.3 million.
