The votes have been counted and University of Belize's firebrand student body President Moses Sulph has been re-elected. He will lead students on the Belize City campus for another year. Just over 300 of the 800 students who attend the Belize City campus, which amounts to about 40%, cast their votes. Sulph got 165 of those votes while his opponent Rowlin Towery got 85.

There were 17 officers elected to serve. Included among them is the equally outspoken Phillip Willoughby who ran un-opposed and was elected as Sulph's deputy. Today Sulph attributed the poor turnout to the fact that voting was held this week when there were exams. Still, he sees his victory is a signal that he is moving in the right direction. He vowed to continue to try and improve conditions for young people both within and outside of the university.

Sulph is best known for leading the student protest of Wednesday April 20th on Princess Margaret Drive, which turned into a sit-in on the Belcan Bridge and later led to looting and chaos on Albert Street. He was arrested and is awaiting trial for leading an illegal protest and trespassing.
