It is high season for summer camps and tonight we will take you to another one. 30 children from the city are spending their week at a camp facilitated by the Unity Presbyterian Church and Youth for the Future. Their location is near Hattieville and organizers say it is one week of holistic fun.
Alex Perez, Coordinator
"We partnership with the church, my partnership with Pastor Ernest, and that is why we are here today. We are doing camps with the kids of Belize and that is about it."
Pastor Ernest Betson,
"These kids are from Unity Presbyterian Mission Church in the burial ground area. This is an area we have been working with for the past three or four years with kids. The theme is reaching the young ones for Jesus Christ. We have to start when they are young, not when they are old, so we can take them off the streets and lead them to Christ who is the only answer."
Sandra McClaren, YFF
"Some of the activities are leadership skills, personal development, they are learning other camping skills like how to conduct a camp, light the camp fire, have a good time, being drug free and this is where Youth for the Future is collaborating along with these churches to help our young people so that we can develop future young leaders for our country."
The camp concludes on Friday. Similar camps will be held across the country.
