Another change that the new government has made since taking office is allowing teachers to conduct their online classes from the comfort of their own homes. As we have reported, the president of the BNTU has been lobbying for this since schools reopened in September but the UDP's Ministry of Education had shot down the idea time and time again.

But, now, the new Minister of Education, Francis Fonseca and his Minister of State Dr Louis Zabaneh have issued an internal memo which states that teachers are only required to go to work on the Mondays before Christmas Vacation. So they will need to be in the classroom only on November 30, December 7 and 14 to assist with distributing learning packages. School will close on December 18 and reopen on January 11.

And while that's a win for the teachers union, no one seems to be talking about the schoolchildren - and any schedule or protocol for them to return to the classroom.
