But President Smith had not seen this memo earlier today when we asked her about the docked salaries. She told us that they will be going into their sixth week and that the majority of the membership is still willing to strike. She also said that they have written to some managing authorities about not docking salaries since the teachers are fighting for the benefit of the entire country - and because teachers have always gone above and beyond the call of duty.

"This is week 5, so we should be heading into week 6. Over the weekend we poll our members and see what it is they will. As a union this is how get our decisions, our membership determines what happens and then as leaders we go by that mandate. So over the weekend we poll them once more and if it is that the decision is for us to continue then we do so."

"Do you feel like the percentage to want to come out and continue strike is getting less every weekend you poll them?"

Elena Smith, President, BNTU
"Not really, the response that we got, the last poll was a little bit more than what we had gotten previous to that - it was a little bit more."

Reporter
'Have you heard from any of the managing authorities of any schools that they will be docking the salaries?"

Elena Smith, President, BNTU
"Not as yet. We have written to a few of them, but we haven't heard from them as yet."

After the interview, she corrected herself that two high schools have since told their teachers that they would be docking salaries.
