This morning, area reps had to navigate their way through a sea of green to get into the National Assembly building for today's sitting of the House of Representatives. That's because, while it is not unusual for the unions to protest outside the building, today the BNTU sat on the road right in front of the steps. And despite the police demanding that they step back behind the barriers, they made it clear: they would not be moved. It was a situation that could have quickly gotten out of hand, but luckily for the political directorate, it didn't.

However, it does send a message that the union members are becoming more defiant, and police are at the limit of their patience.

Today in Belmopan, the COMPOL and BNTU president, Elena Smith, gave a recap of the events of this morning. Courtney Menzies has this story.

It should be noted that PSU members were not a part of the protest because they were attending their AGM.
