She's confirmed as President of the BNTU, but tonight, Ruth Shoman remains under attack from senior members who continue to make credible challenges on her eligibility to hold the most senior post in the Union.
A press release today from members of the union opposed to President Shoman's tenure says that Shoman claimed to be employed by the US State Department as a facilitator.
The release says three weeks have gone by since the BNTU's Council of Management requested that she provide evidence of her employment.
They say Vice president Jorge Mejia claims that Shoman did present a letter of employment from the US State Department, and the letter was to be verified by the Executive Secretary of the BNTU. But they say that Shoman has still not shared a copy of her employment letter with the council of management as requested.
For the record, 7News has confirmed with US government sources that Shoman is not and was not a US State Department employee. She participated as a facilitator for an open programme for teachers hosted by the US State Department - which is not a paying gig. Our source told us that she served as a voluntary trainer after completing the online certificate programme - which is open to all teachers.
