For at least seven hours today a portion of Belize City, Ladyville and other parts of the Belize District including Crooked Tree Village were under a rough blackout. According to Belize Electricity Limited two critical power lines near the west lake substation were touching and that caused the outage. BEL work crews spent most of the day installing anchors and tensioning lines.
Power supply was lost to the Ladyville feeder which includes that area along the Northern Highway from mile one to Crooked Tree Village and those areas along the old Northern Highway. Also affected was the area from mile one to mile twenty five along the Western Highway.
