And Director Young went on to echo the SG's sentiments of how dire the situation remains in the Caribbean.

Still his hopes for the Glasgow Package remain high.

Colin Young, Executive Director, Caribbean Community Center
"Hopefully better moral suasion and leadership will emerge in the next few days and that we will get something in that Glasgow package that resembles, these three asks that we as part of Caricom and part of AOSIS has, now why are we doing this? Because our existence is at stake. So we're not asking for these three things because we pulled them out of a hat, we're asking it because the science is absolutely clear as to if we don't cut emissions by 45% we will get to 1.5 within the next 20 years and 1.5 is disatrous for us, hurricanes will increase in intensity, droughts will increase, sea level will rise even more, inundating our beaches, causing coastal erosion, and if we think it's bad now and it is bad, we don't want to see what will happen if it gets to 1.5 so that is why we are fighting, that is why, we lose sleep, that is why our negotiators are there until the wee hours of the morning, trying to hold the positions and advocate for what we absolutely needed."
