And from dormant transfer stations to stagnant pools sitting in crater like pot holes.

two weeks ago, incessant rains caused major flooding the damages major highways and forced residents to wade through the water to get to work. But while most of them were able to use rubber boots - or even plastic bags - the residents of M.Y. Street in the Lake I area say not even that can help them.

For the past eight months, they have seen their street go from large water filled potholes to flooding so high, that vehicles can't even pass - but in all that time, they've rarely seen it completely dry.

One man says he's been trying to get some assistance from the government to fix his street, especially since two major potholes sit directly in front of his house, making it almost impossible to leave without getting wet.

His last resort is coming to the media to ask either the City Council or his area rep for a helping hand.

Elroy Bailey, Resident, MY Street

"We been having this problem for about 8 months now, full up one side of the street, and they throw on load here and I'm asking for the City Council to give me an assistance with this hole, this hole has been here about 8 months now and every time I call to find out if I could get some assistance with this street, they tell me they'll come and see it, they need to do a drainage inspection first, this is the way how it is for 8 months at least. And then the kids they come, they walk on the side of the fence, put boards there, so it inconveniences me with nail that I can't come out my yard. Sometimes I watch kids going to school they got to take off their shoe, pass over here first, then put on their shoes and go and I'm really getting tired of it and this is not healthy."

Courtney Menzies:
"And when it rains hard, how much worse than this does it get?"

Elroy Bailey, Resident, MY Street
"Man, the truck they can't even pass here, the police vehicle can't even pass, they gotta go all the way round if they're chasing somebody down the street, they gotta go all the way around, cause this is a good depth, this is like two feet. One spell, once the rain continue coming, we gonna have a problem, we gonna definitely have a problem."

"It affects me bad because sometimes, you know, it's really got a smell because it comes from the sewer because back here doesn't have a good sewer system so all that smell comes from out the drain because people be throwing their waste inside the drain so it ends up in here and the kids have to walk, me myself have to walk in there, so it's not healthy. I'm asking the government or whosoever is taking care of the street, just give me a little assistance with a couple of load of stones or something, just to, you know, to help, this is 8 months, you know, 8 months."

"Sometimes you can't even use the boots because if your boots is like, say 8 inches, or you know, the normal size of boots, water go right up in there so they can't, it makes no sense so I'm just asking assistance from the City Council or whoever is supposed to be controlling this area to give me a little hand and just throw a couple load here let me feel like I'm a Belizean citizen, you know what I'm saying?"

Bailey also told us he feels his area is being neglected because, apart from the flooding, the grass near the drains are overgrown and those from CitCo rarely stop by to trim it.
