Two nights ago we told you that the Fisheries Department had officially notified Rainforest Seafoods that it had to answer for a total of Twenty-Two Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty-Seven (22,827) undersized conch.
The letter said Rainforest had 24 hours to answer whether it wishes to go the route of administrative proceedings - if not, they would have to go to court.
Well, sources are telling us it might not be that straightforward. 7News has learned that for two days Fisheries Administrators and government legal counsel have been meeting with the attorney for Rainforest, Godfrey Smith for the past two days at the Fisheries Department.
We waited for the end of the meeting today and when Godfrey Smith exited the Fisheries Department he declined an interview saying, quote, "They are not complete".
He left the Belize Fisheries Department in the company of Rainforest Seafoods CEO Brian Jardim.
