And when it comes to North Ambergris Caye, Perez says that they have to balance the development. And while they have received complaints about the heavy flow of container trucks passing through the town and up to the north end, he says they have reduced the traffic through the town.

Andre Perez, Area Rep., Belize Rural South

"We had to find alternatives to stop that trucking in town and we had to work with the cargo companies to develop some kind of port but getting their port bulkheads on the northern part of Ambergris Caye. So here we are trying to provide the balance, easing the traffic for the town and then we get the environmentalists telling us that we're developing the north. So you're caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. But nonetheless we have to move forward, we can't wait to see what social media is going to say, we have to be decisive and that is what I have been doing. Now that has been a win win for us because the traffics has reduced significantly and that's a battle we have won."
