A 33-year-old man is tonight hospitalized at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in urgent need of an open-heart surgery. Kenard Gabb was hospitalized two weeks ago after his heart began to fail. In 1988 he got a surgery which replaced one of his heart valves and now two more valves need to be replaced. Thing is the surgery cannot be performed in Belize and more importantly he is in desperate need of financing. He told Alfonso of his plight.
Kenard Gabb, Needs Heart Surgery
"I have a 3 valve problem with my heart. I already had a transplant of one prosthesis valve already but that is acting up and two more is going bad with it now and its giving me complications of my internal organs them like the liver and kidney and instead I really need a open heart surgery operation to repair the valve. If anybody in the business community or anybody who could donate anything we just open up a bank account and anything they can give will be well appreciated."
Alfonso Noble,
How much money you need?
Kenard Gabb,
"US$30,000."
Alfonso Noble,
How important is this surgery for you?
Kenard Gabb,
"Very very important, it's a matter of life and death."
Since our interview last week, Gabb's condition has deteriorated significantly. Anyone who can assist him is asked to do so at Belize Bank account number 200-285-81.
