Two weeks ago we brought you the story of Ramon 'Muncho' Galvez who got sick with leptospirosis after consuming a bread that had been bitten by rats. Tonight the case of contaminated bread is not as dire, but it is concerning. Carol Stevenson visited our studios yesterday, bringing along with her a pack bread. It was not bitten by a rat but it was covered with mold. It does happen, but she says it shouldn't happen at the grocery store. She sent to buy the bread at a Chinese grocery store on Sunday night and by Monday morning, she found it covered in mold. She told us that it's just unacceptable.

Carol Stevenson, Bought Moldy Bread
"I sent my son to go and buy a pack bread and I only took one bread out there for my son. This morning when I told them to drink tea with the bread, this is what I found. He doesn't want to change the bread so what sense does it make for us to go and buy bread. We are poor. I have to work hard. I have four kids and I can't afford, I don't have money to buy bread right now."

Alfonso Noble,
People will say why didn't you check the bread when you took it home.

Carol Stevenson,
"Because when I looked at the bread, I wasn't noticing it good and I am asking my son if they wanted anymore bread and they said no and they are not like that because as you open a pack bread, half of it is gone because they can eat pack bread."

Alfonso Noble,
So they didn't tell you last night that the bread was full up of mold?

Carol Stevenson,
"No they didn't tell me that. This morning when I was setting their tea on the table before I go to work, I told them to get the bread out of the microwave and I went there and he didn't want to change the bread. Things are hard out here right now. You have to work for a little money. I am telling them that when they go to buy bread at Kim to check unu bread and you have to check it good before you take it because if you even take it now and you take it back, they won't take it back because they don't want to lose. They don't want to lose but we lose. This doesn't make any sense what they are doing because if you take back a bread, they should change it back. They don't want to lose but I lose $1.25. I can't make $1.25 go just like that because you have work and if you don't work how will you eat so I am showing them the bread. This is the bread they don't want to change none at all."

Stevenson says that she tried to return the bread but the grocer would not take it back.
