On Friday night, you saw Leopoldo Pineda appear on this newscast. He alleged that ingestion of bread tainted with rat faeces had given him food poisoning.

Well the bakery which he claims made him sick has responded; they say that his allegations are, quote, "bewildering and unfounded". Outlining the entire, very involved process of preparing and packaging a pack of bread, the baker says that quote, "chances of a speck of alleged rodent dropping to remain as intact is nil."

They add that quote, "if the alleged rodent dropping was able to somehow remain intact, no germ, virus, or otherwise, can survive 400 degrees temperatures lasting for 25 minutes which leads to Mr. Pineda's other alleged condition of food poisoning." End quote. They add that food poisoning generally starts 2-6 hours after ingestion and not several days after. And in its release, the baker concludes that, "Pineda, who doesn't refuse food and eats big, according to his interview with the media, must have eaten something that caused the alleged food poisoning. Bread cannot be the culprit since he has decided to stop eating bread." End of quote. In its statement, the bakery also cautions the media that quote "Perhaps a little investigation should have been done on the background, character and even living conditions of the individual making the allegations before airing."
