The KHMH Administration is doing some deep digging into its accounts after massive unauthorized pay-outs were made to suppliers in early June. 7News has received reports that the disbursements amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars and it has left the institution with a short-term cash flow crisis where it is having difficulty meetings its regular payments.
Credible reports say the investigation includes queries into the acquisition of two X-Ray machines from an Orange Walk based business which sells furniture. These were reportedly paid for without invoice or contract - and the bill was in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
It's so serious that the hospital may have to commission an audit to get to the bottom of it. We'll keep following the story.
